Sometimes we wait on our partner to make something special for us. My husband said that somewhere down the line he began to think that Valentine’s Day was just a well-marketed commercial holiday that has become wives with their arms crossed judging if their husband is going to romance them enough and then compare notes with their friends. Is this true? I think I am completely guilty!! What? A balloon!?! No flowers?? No romantic breakfast?? We aren’t going out to dinner?? Even though he did get me a special card and had it waiting for me to open when I woke up. I think the answer is laying down expectations and choosing to be thankful. And if it is not what I hope it to be, I think I need to do something about it. So…I lit a candle, prepared dinner, had a fire going before he got home. It’s not just up to him.
